This temple is one of the oldest temples [still erected] of Mathura. According to Hindu mythology (Mahabharata), Pandavas stayed at this place during their vanwas (exile).
This temple is also known for Tantra Siddhi Kshetra.
Originally Pandavas had worshiped here and constructed this temple. Current temple restoration was done by Peshwas in end of 17th century.
