Tench is a tiny and remote island in the St Matthias Group, in New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea. An atoll, it is inhabited, and an important seabird breeding site. Due to the death of the coral reef surrounding the island, and the breakdown of much of the reef, the island is being steadily eroded by the sea.
