Congrats Sasi. You have done commentably well to highlight your favourite temple. Appreciate if u give a short write up abt the history.

Along with the temple on the south west corner there is an old Poovam Tree which can reveal the time the temple built by Carbon dating. Seems there is no record at the Vadakkumnathan Archives which was destryed by fire.

Legend says the temple was crafted along with Vadakumnathan by Apsaras and the Five Hills (Ayyankunnu)yonder near Nedupuzha came into being while cleaning Kottas on way before refilling the building materials.

Local people should take care of the tree which by hearsay is more than thousand years old. They should inject new life to the tree by putting manure instead of hacking the branches and shortening its life. The grand old tree along with six Pala Trees (Akash Pushp)are the mute spcectators of the temple history and will have many a stories to tell.

Me too is a nearest neighbour of the temple spent my childhood in the precincts of the Temple. Even now I rever and pray "Kartyayani Muthi" in my daily prayers. She gives immense solace and peace of mind all the Time.

The masonry frescos around the sanctorum wall is beautiful as the wood carvings though much has been destroyed and deteriorated due to vagaries of weather and lack of maintenance.

The Poovam tree is very old and should preserved and maintained and taken care of as it is as old as the temple itself. when I saw the tree 2 yrs back has no growth and devoid of foliage. I could not get a single fruit which I used to nibble for the lightly sweet pulp when I was a kid abt 70 yrs ago.

It is realy informative and inspiring narration. It is happy to read more about our GOD, temble and the temble premises. I am always keeping our GOD in my heart from my childhood days onwards and this in turn blessed me and my family a lot. I left from IRCTC and joined as Finance Officer (Group-A) in Ministry of Communication and IT, GOI in Aug'09.
