The Dead Falls are one of the most visited attractions in Jämtland, attracting more than forty thousand every year. Until 1796, some of the most impressive waterfalls in Sweden were here, falling around thirty five metres. Unfortunately the falls made timber floating impossible, and so a dam was built, causing the falls to cease to exist. However, the whole area carved out by the falls is now here to explore, complete with steps, ridges and paths. There is a restaurant and cafe here.
