  • Yes, the old wooden Shop No.1, shop No.6 & shop No.8 were/are coffee shops while the rest were/are grocery shops. Today there are a little bit of mixture of business. Shop No.2 & No.5 are operating billiards for entertainment.

  • My last visit was 16th August 2008 when my wife & I attended my nephew (my sister Liong Kui Lin's eldest son) Javon wedding party. Following few days, my wife & I (also with Tuaran 2nd brother & Likas sister) visited Tenghilan twice! I learned that these old historical row of shoplots had not been doing well with their renewal or re-rebuilding programme. I wonder why & what had been happenning to our Tenghilan/Tuaran Memeber of Parliament for the past few years as well as those people involved in Tenghilan. It is strange enough why this Tenghilan Historical Shoplots remain not so important as they had been the core of Tenghilan growth & development since nearly about 60 years ago! Any idea at all? Thanks for feedback!
  • Who is now the Capitan (Kampung head) of Tenghilan township today? I think he/she owes us an explianation regarding about the position/statue of this historic wooden shoplots! The land-titles had been expired & what is going on then? Those who control or have says about this 8 shops, please come forward to approach the existing aproppriate MP or assembly man who can help to handle this particular issue once in for all. But 1st there should be proper documents with those concern. Tenghilan ma-si lagi ten-ka-lan ca (left behind) particularily in this I.T. 21st century of global world!? Even India has tried for the moon! Where are all those great people in Tenghlan? It is indeed sad to learn something still hanging around in the air whenever I went back my birthplace or hometown. Thank you very much for any effective feedback here!
  • You are absolutely right. It seems that the assemblyman (or more appropriately, the MP because he is from Tenghilan) is not really interested to see improvements in the township. Tenghilan could be improve many times better than what it is today. With two secondary schools and a growing population I think Tenghilan deserves a little more attention from the government but it's very sad to see that the people responsible are not doing anything, except to come and beg for votes when it's time for election. And, by the way, I did not know about Roger Leong's death until I came across this website. He was my good friend but have been away and out of touch with Tenghilan for quite sometime.
  • Some correction to the above. What I mean is I have been away from Tenghilan for quite sometime and I dont get to hear news from there.
  • Me too been away from Sabah for 17 years though off & on I visited my home ground. In fact I am trying to encourage all Tenghilan people far or near to stand up & speak out. At least try to update Tenghilan website regularly. Nice to see you making comments here! This is as if we are visiting Tenghilan too. By the way where are you now? Cheers & do take care!
  • Since very small I was practically livng away from Tenghilan for the sake of education & career. Today, though I am PR of Singapore I am still die-hard of Sabahan!
  • Miss you Tenghilan! Whenever there is something in my mind about Tenghilan people or event, I am sentimental & today I visit this place once again. Don't I look like a stranger indeed!?
  • How I like to have a very close up viewing & photographs of this historical shoplots of Tenghilan?
  • Next year my wife & I have planned to go back to Sabah if all go well & accordingly & surely we will visit my birth place around Chinese Ching-Ming festive! Hope to see you people around.
  • I don't see much improvement in this SITE yet. Nevertheless, let me here sincerely wish & bless ALL beings in today 2009 Christmas-Day a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  • Gong Xi Fa Cai! A VERY HAPPY HEALTHY & PROSPEROUS CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR! MAY 2010 - YEAR OF GOLDEN TIGER ROARS TO TENGHILAN & ITS PEOPLE.
  • I really miss my birth place Tenghilan. A very sentimental & memorable place to revisit once again. I will in KK/Likas/Tuaran between 22nd March till April 6th - 2010. Looking forward to see/meet all those relatives & friends too. Everytime I visited my birth place I always thought that could possibly be the last visit too!
  • Good for you, David. I wish I could go home soon too.
  • Man, where are you by the way? I visited Tenghilan 3 times on March 29 (for Qing-Ming occasion), 1st (for Tamu) & 3rd (especially for taking my grand-daughter along together with my family as well as to say good-bye Tenghilan) of April 2010. I stayed most my time in Tuaran my 2nd brother house at Taman St John School. At KK we were staying at Taman Khimat.
  • As usual I use to walk to & fro along this historical shoplots whenever I visit Tenghilan township. I am very happy that my only Tenghilan sister Ah Lin is busying in the corner shop once again! Together with her husband & her family have our Leongs' Siblings best Blessing - operating the business after my 4th brother Roger Leong unfortunate & untimely passed away due to cancer sickness. My nephew Freddy Leong & his wife are both teachers by their professional! We all hope it would work out smoothly & well for the great advantage/benefit of ALL LEONGS. Today I am proud of being one of TENGHILAN LEONGS.
