Historic department store opened in 1905. Bought by Karstadt in 1927 and known as Karstadt Oberpollinger until 2009, when it reverted to its original name. The building was bombed out in an air raid on January 8, 1945, but restored within two years.
An enormous extension was built between 2005 and 2006 on the north end, making the store the second biggest in Germany after KaDeWe in Berlin, also owned by Karstadt.
Also includes the adjoining Karstadt Oberpollinger Sporthaus, across Herzog-Max-Straße.
