Gumdale, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia (Brisbane)A suburb of Brisbane. Postcode - 4154. Formerly known as the 'Grassdale Estate' after the grass trees (xanthorrhoeia) that grew there. When a post office was to be opened in 1941, there was already a 'Grassdale' in South Australia. Gumdale appears to have derived its name from the State School opened in 1935. Name and boundaries approved by Queensland Place Names Board 11 August 1975. Boundary altered by the Minister for Natural Resources 23 June 2000.
