The Pakistan Marine Academy is the only institution in public sector for training of seafarers in Pakistan. It is a subordinate organization of Ministry of Communication (Ports & Shipping Wing) Karachi. The campus has an area of 136 acres on the waterfront in Karachi Harbour. The campus houses all tangible facilities required of a world-class training institution which include an Administration / Instructional Block, Seamen Training Wing, Officers Club, Cadets Residential Block, Workshops, Simulators, Jetty, Sports Grounds, swimming pool, Medical Centre, Mosque, Bank, Post Office and a Residential Area and a school/college for the officers and staff of the Academy.
The Academy is mandated to meet the training standard for seafarers set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). To meet this objective, the facilities at PMA are being constantly upgraded to keep pace with the fast changing technology in the marine sector.
Pakistan Marine Academy is an affiliated institution of University of Karachi. It is also recognized as a branch of the World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden for the conduct of IMO specialized courses, seminars and similar activities

Objectives of Pakistan Marine Academy :-
1. To provide a sound academic background and teach the fundamentals of theoretical and practical nautical and marine engineering education essential for a successful career at sea.
2. To meet the training requirements of International Maritime Organization in accordance with the Standards Of Training, Certification and Watch keeping conventions for seafarers.
3. To develop qualities of leadership, sense of responsibility, honor, character, pride of profession, loyalty and devotion to duty in the service of the country.
