Middle Cove beach is another excellent example of Newfoundland's rugged beauty. About a 20 minute drive from the heart of St. John's, you can find a dozen or more camp fires and guitars on any given Friday or Saturday night. DO NOT GO SWIMMING! The horse shoe shape of the cove creates an extremely powerful undertow. Once a year, a swimmer or a rescue crew are lost less than 40 feet from the shore.
