Kasba Upazila (Brahmanbaria district) with an area of 209.76 sq km, is bounded by Akhaura, Brahmanbaria sadar and Nabinagar upazilas on the north, Brahmanpara upazila on the south, Tripura State of India on the east, Nabinagar, Muradnagar and Brahmanpara upazilas on the west. Main rivers are Titas and Buri; Sharisadhali Beel and Kutir Beel are notable.

The geographic coordinates of Kasba town are 24 23.7419574N 91.1433108E degree. Kasba (Town) consists of 9 wards and 22 mahallas. The area of the town is 4.40 sq km. It has a population of 15726; male 50.09%, female 49.91%; population density per sq km 3574. Literacy rate among the town people is 43.4%.

Kasba thana was established in 1908 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 10 union parishads, 160 mouzas and 236 villages.

Archaeological heritage and relics Sree Sree Anandamoye Ashram at Kheora (seventeenth century), Bara Mosque at Kuti (eighteenth century).

Historical events: During the Muslim rule in India the place was it was named Kasba. Once Kasba was the temporary capital of Tripura State. There are many archaeological relics of the time of the kings of Tripura. Dharma Saagar and Kalyan Saagar were excavated during the reigns of King Dharma Manikya and King Kalyan Manikya respectively.

As of 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 243833; male 50.69%, female 49.31%; Muslim 94.59% Hindu 5.40% and others 0.01%.

Mineral resources Salda gas field was discovered in 1996. Total reserve is 200 billion cft, recoverable reserve 140 billion cft. 11 billion cft has already been produced up to March 2000.
