  • I have been to and/or through the Techatticup Mine area a few times, most recently on 05-28-2011. The plane wreck from 3000 Miles to Graceland is just east of the "former Texaco station" on the south side of the road. Based on information, the 51 acres surrounding the main buildings and mining facilities (I think most are from the very late 19th and early 20th centuries) are privately owned. If my memory serves correctly, people still live on the property, but permit visitors to walk around and view the plethora of items from years gone by (9AM-5PM). Also, mine and kayak tours are available (reservations made in advance). I observed a tour guide walk up to one of a few cats, pet it and called it Number 17. I incidentally overheard the tour guide explain to someone that the cats are given numbers for names because of their short life expectancy due to wild predators. I do not believe the Techatticup Mine area offers any services (food, gas, etc.).
