Wildcat Hill (Carmel Highlands)

USA / California / Carmel-by-the-Sea / Carmel Highlands
 house, interesting place, photography shop

Edward Weston's home and photograpy studio.
Built by his son Neil in 1938 at a total cost of 999 dollars (1938 dollars.)
In 1940 the garage was converted to a live-in study / workspace for Mrs. Weston, a.k.a. Charis Wilson. Her little cottage was called Bodie House. Photo by Weston circa 1944 shows Charis playing her flute.
Weston did another, much better known, self-portrait with Charis at the door of Bodie House entitled "My Little Grey Home in the West." That one might be a little too risqué for posting on WM.
Photo by Beaumont Newhall shows Weston's (still new) cabin in 1940, which was basically a single 800 square foot room.
Photo by Pirkle Jones of Weston and Ansel Adams (early 1950s?) shows the 1948 addition (behind Adams) which served as Weston's bedroom for the last nine years of his life.
