Approximately 1,500 acres of the total 2,500 acres of Devil's Den State Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as a historic district. The man-made structures within the park include a number of cabins and administrative buildings, as well as numerous water drainage culverts, retaining walls and other landscape features, all constructed out of rustic stone. These man-made structures generally date to about 1936, and were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a New Deal program that operated between 1933 and 1942. The program provided work for unmarried, unemployed men who were struggling to find work during the Great Depression.
