  • THE PALACE OF THE THEN RAJA(KING)'S PALACE IS CALLED NEW PALACE. IT HAS BEEN CONVERTED INTO PUDUKOTTAI DISTRICT'S COLLECTORATE LATER ON. DISTRICT COLLECTOR OFFICE PRESENTLY FUNCTIONS IN THIS PALACE. THE PALACE IS SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL TREES WHERE WE USED TO GO FOR STUDYING THE EXAM TIMES. THE ATMOSPHERE IS QUITE CALM.
  • I recall with nostalgia my student days at Sathyamoorthy Secondary School, Tirumayam from 1943 to 1947. Tirumayam was wonderful then with all activities centering round the Perumal Kovil. Can you believe it.The name Sathyamoorthy has been dropped from the school's name and it it now known as the Government Secondary School. The great freedom fighter cannot find a place even in the name of a school at his placeof birth! I studied for two years 1947/49 at the Brahadambal High School, Pudukkottai then known as the branch college.I recall the strict discipline enforced by the Headmaster, Sri Ramaswamy Iyengar. I recall the cricket matches arranged by the Maharajah with several white players in the teams. We boys used to get half day off from School for watching the cricket match. We could not understand the game and after a few minutes used to slink off to play goli gundu or kittipull! I found Pudukkottai unhealthy after a rural life in Tirumayam. I fell sick repeatedly. My parents who were in Calcutta took me there. I did not go back to Tirumayam or Pudukkottai for 38 years - 1949 to 1987. Now I try to visit once a year. I am glad the Child Trust School, Pudukkottai has produced a Wing Commander working with the IAF.I know it has produced senior Executives working abroad. I have tried to do my bit for that school.
  • I hoped someone from Pudukottai would atleast mark the famous temples instead of marking their own homes with very large squares. I want someone seeing this comment to mark exactly where the Sri Kokarneswarar Brahadambal Temple at Thirukokarnam is located as also the other famous temples of Pudukottai like Bhuvaneshwari amman, Kunnandar Koil etc. Please avoid marking oversized squares for tiny plots. It spoils the whole mapping.
  • in the north west of the kings fort the brahadambal temple is marked.
  • and north of the pudukkulam (the large white square) bhuvaneswari temple is marked.
  • more detail u can get
