World / USA / District of Columbia / Washington World / United States / District of Columbia
Historic bridge named for President William Howard Taft. It was built in 1907 to a design by E.P. Casey and is the highest bridge in the DC area, and one of the longest reinforced concrete arch bridges built before World War II. The 7-span, decorative arch bridge spans Rock Creek Park, connecting downtown DC to upper Northwest DC. The red line of the Metro travels under Connecticut Avenue parallel to the bridge.
