Point Pinos is an excellent place to scan the sea for pelagic birds. In the late summer and early fall thousands of Shearwaters are often visible from shore. It is often best in early morning or late afternoon for birding, and when strong northwest winds blow off Monterey Bay the pelagic birds can be very close to shore. Look for Black-footed Albatrosses from May through June.
