Westborough Quartzite Outcrop Area
The old railroad ran over the quartzite beds in this region. When the railroad bridges were built, around 1896, the rock removed from the cut underneath it was transported to build the ramp at the Park Avenue bridge. The rock from this southern zone is a kind of pink, and grades to greenish, then to a tan or grayish white in closer to Summer Street. A garage and rertaining walls on Bow Street are built with the green quartzite, a rather attractive rock.
