according to latest research Subathu was also also a centre of 1857 mutiny. One Ramprsad Bairagi inspierd the indian sepoys to agitate against the British. Some og the brave sepoys had to face 'balidan' in this khud. That is why it is known as Kuhni khud.

  • in fact I am working over a book named -Rebellion in the Hills. This will carry the old history of Subathu including the mutiny days. For reference you acn read my article in The Tribune dated May 10,2007 under the same heading. The Tribune had brought a supplement on 18th anniversary of 1857 mutiny.
