Currently owned by the Eller Family Trust, Timothy Eller, Trustee, which bought it in May 2006 from the estate of the former owner, Harvey R. Bright. The residence was designed by Anton Korn, built in 1916 and has 7,224 square feet. DCAD shows a 2007 certified value of $9,400,000. After the Eller Family Trust purchased the estate, DCAD's certified value of the residence itself went from $553,720 to only $11,210. DCAD shows the condition of the residence as "unsound". In addition to the main residence, the estate also has a 540 square foot workshop, a 936 square foot detached garage, a 732 square foot servants quarters, and a 600 square foot porte cochere. Former owner Bright worked for Sun Oil Company, later began trading oil leases with his college roommate, and eventually started Bright & Co., an exploration and production company. By 1950 Bright had became a millionaire and used his wealth to invest in real estate, trucking and financial services, eventually owning more than 120 companies. Bright developed extreme right-wing political opinions and along with his friends, Clint Murchison, Sr., Sid Richardson, George Brown, Herman Brown and Haroldson L. Hunt, was a supporter of the John Birch Society. In 1984 Bright purchased the Dallas Cowboys from Clint Murchison, Jr. Bright sold the Cowboys to Jerry Jones in 1989. Bright died at his Highland Park home on December 11, 2004. Eller is CEO of homebuilder Centex and earned a reported $23.98-million in 2006.
