residence, interesting place, Norman (architecture)
Former residence of Bowman Gray, designed c.1927 by Luther Lashmit in the Norman Revival style for Bowman Gray. Gray was president of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in the 1920's and 1930's. While in use as a residence, it was the 2nd largest residence in North Carolina (2nd only to the Biltmore estate). It is now adaptively reused as a conference center.
