Terceira Island, is an island in the Azores, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, with an area of 396.75 km². The island's length is 29 km and the width is 18km; the perimeter is 90 km. Population is 54,996, down from a peak of 59,000.
Lajes Field, on the north-east side of the island, is operated by the 65th Air Base Wing.

  • I was stationed there for 2 years in the late 90's. Excellent dining. Swordfish, alcatra (a way of roasting beef or fish in a wine sauce), and vinho verde (green wine) are worth trying if you find yourself in the area.
  • I was there for only 3 days, Terceira Island is Beautiful, I,m sure the other 8 Islands are just as nice
