The school was opened in 1917 as the Private classical Men's Gymnasium of the Jewish Society of Secondary and Primary Schools.
In 1939 – the Gymnasium was reorganized to a School for general education.
In 1944 – the 1st Railway School for boys was established.
In 1955 – it became a mixed (for boys and girls) school.
In 1961 – the 1st Railway School was reorganized into the School No. 52.
In 1993 – a room-museum of Mykola Lobachevskyi (Nikolai Lobachevsky) was created, and the school was named after him.
In 2018 – the school was renamed to Mykola Lobachevskyi Lyceum No. 52 of the Lviv City Council.
Since September 2022 – Lyceum No. 52 of the Lviv City Council.
