Hoshiarpur is a city in Hoshiarpur District, Punjab, INDIA. It was founded, according to tradition, during the early part of the 4th century. In 1809 it was occupied by the forces of Maharaja Karanvir Singh and was united under the greater state of Punjab. Hoshiarpur is also known as an ancient manufacturing town where colorful lacquer (formerly ivory) finished plastic inlay furniture is made.
Location- Hoshiarpur district is located in the north-east part of the Indian state of Punjab. It falls in the Jalandhar Revenue Division and is situated in the Bist Doab portion of the Doaba region.

  • This is the district of my ancestors. My pardada, of Gandoo gaut of Jaat clan, back in 1915 or around ( an estimate) shifted their sons to their lands located in Layalpur in Pakistan (now Faisalabad). After partition all land in Hoshiarpur were forfeited. I would love to visit the place if i got any chance in life to visit.
