This is beautiful stone carved Shiva Temple made during Shilahaar Family ruling in Maharashtra 900 AD. This is one of 12 Shiva Temples built by King Jhanj. We can see lots of fine carved work on most of stone blocks used in this temple. This temple is on bank of holy river Pravara. This temple is approached by road from Igatpuri and Sangamner cities via Bhandardara Dam town in District Ahmednagar. The area in which this temple is Pravara Basin and is rich in dense forests, wildlife, pollution less clean weather so it is called Kashmir of Maharashtra, The Akole Taluka of Ahmednagar District. From this place way ascending to famous trekking place named Ratangad the old age hill fort.

  • very old Lord shiva's temple-stone work similar to -Lord shiva's temple at Harishchndra gad. one can climb Ratangad-passing through dense Forest Approximately 2 to 3 hours walk - stay in cave night -n enjoy the night. Usually people stay at village Ratanwadi-Big empty house is there and in the morning start climbing Ratangad. Location: Back side of Bhandadara Dam.
