A town of approximately 200 people at the southern extremity of the Tarkine, or what locals call the South Arthur. It has a history of mining and then was used as a base for the building of 2 large hydro dams, Lakes Rosebery(damming the Pieman river) and Mackintosh(damming the Murchison river). The first car visited Tullah in the '60s. It is surrounded by mountains, forest and water. Tullah sits on the shores of Lake Rosebery and while being rundown is in the most beautiful setting. The activities are largely to do with the outdoors. Boating, Fishing, walking to the top of Mounts Farrell and Murchison that provide spectacular views to the Overland track, S.W. wilderness and Tarkine. An exception is Wee Georgie Wood, a small steam engine, previously the only means of transport to the town and now a volunteer run tourist attraction with around a kilometre of track. Currently there is a resurgence in mining in the area and the town may be moving towards its former glory. Hopefully it won't spoil this hidden gem.
