Fereydoon Kenar port has a good hinterland and also acts as one of the auxiliary ports in the Caspian Sea area. In 1990 the Iranian parliament decided to transfer Fereydoon Kenar to a port and after this the following incidents took place:
 
2001: Manufacturing of the berth, Dock and Break water
2005 : Indication of custom zone
2005 : Dredging of Dock and Bay
2007 : Transfer of port to private sector(A&G joint venture)
2007 : Provision of responsibility Matrix between the public and private sector
2007 : Design and development of a contract model
2008 : A 40 Years Leasing Contract Model Was Developed and Finalized
