Built in 1887, the Svetogorsk mill was the foundation of the town of Svetogorsk which today has 16,000 inhabitants. In December 1998, the mill became part of International Paper.

Today, the Svetogorsk mill is one of the largest paper mills in Russia utilizing the most modern technologies and equipment. Located on the Karelian Isthmus, the pulp and paper mill occupies 200 hectares of land. Its operations include three pulp mills, two paper machines and A4/A3 sheeting operations.
