The Turtle Ship, the spearhead of the Korean Navy, was developed in CE l59l by Admiral Yi Sun-Shin, who was the commander of one of the 4 fleets in the Korean South Sea at the time and foresaw an invasion by the Japanese.

This Turtle Ship was first completed on January 3l, I980 and rebuilt on October 28. I999 by the Korean Navy. Using the military reports, personal journals of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin, and other related records it was recreated after in accordance with historical evidence ascertained by Yi Eun-Sang and 16 other leading experts on the Turtle Ship and the life of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin.
