The site of the former Nassau Farmers' Market, which burned down in 1987. As of Aug. 2007 the entire Bethpage Marketsquare shopping center, which replaced the Market, has been demolished.
The Bethpage Marketsquare actually isn't here anymore either! A month ago the whole thing was bulldozed for either a Lowe's or one of those other equally crappy stores.

Really? Wow -- it was not that old. I have not been back since I sold my parent's house last year.

Yup, after Grumman laid off most of it's employees pretty much everything dried up in this area. The last few years there were hardly any stores left here, I think only National Wholesale Liquidators held on until the end.

many of the smaller stores moved 1/4 mile south to a "newer" 2 floor shopping center

I'm trying to find info about the carousel that use to be in the farmers market. Some people think Grumman bought it. Does anyone have old snapshots of it or info about it's where abouts.
