Mount Saint Bernard Abbey


Working Cistercian Abbey community founded in 1835. It was the first community of its kind to be established in England after the Dissolution of the 16th Century.

In the 19th Century the abbey also included the largest juvenile reformatory in the country: Whitwick Reformatory (opened 1856 and closed 1885).
