From Doors Open Ottawa:
"The Grand Trunk Railway station, designed in the Beaux-Arts style by L.-J. T. Décary for Montreal architects Ross and MacFarlane, served five railways over 55 years. The monumental waiting room, called the finest room in Canada, was copied from the great thermal baths of Rome. The building is now used for conferences."

This building was formerly Ottawa's railway station before 1966 when railway tracks used to run into downtown Ottawa, but a new railway station was built in the east end when the National Capital Commission decided to remove the tracks along the canal and replace it with parkland and parkways. Today the building remains underused as a government conference centre.
