This "lake" is actually a storm water management system required by the county. It is designed to fill up during periods of heavy rain and then discharge the extra water over a longer period of time. There are a number of wild creatures that have made this pond home including some large turtles, ducks, geese, rabbits, and others. There is a walking path around the lake available to Gannett/USA TODAY employees and visitors. The Geese Police come a few times a week to drive away the geese and keep them from nesting around the lake. Geese generate a prodigious amount of scat and multiply quickly if left unchecked.
