An ancient temple of Lord SreeKrishna destroyed by Tipu Sultan in 18th century was recreated by devotees led by Shri.Erangodath Prasanna Kumar on 29th April 2007.The old Temple is said to have been constructed by Pandya King Maaravarman Sundara Pandyan in 13th century, belongs to the same clan of Pandya rulers who built the Sabarimala Temple.Main Prathishta/deity is GADADHARI NAVANEETHA KRISHNAN which is unique in the world.Other Upa Devathas (Subordinate deities) are MOOKAMBIKA DEVI,DHARMA SASTHA (who holds Amritha Kalasam/ pot of Nectar in Right hand),GANAPATHY,HANUMAN SWAMY,NAGAS,NAVAGRAHAS and GARUDA.Devotees irrespective of caste,creed and religion can worship in this temple.Hence Kulapully SreeKrishna Temple is an example of social harmony and cultural integration.Main festival of Kulapully SreeKrishna Temple is 5 days long Prathishta Dinam celebrations celebrated in the month of Medam/Chithirai (April/May).Prathishta Dinam is celebrated on UTHRAM star in the month of Medam/Chithirai (April/May).Sreekrishna Jayanthi,Vijaya Dasami,Thula Maasa Thiruvonam and Vishu are the other festivals celebrated in the Temple. As part of Prathishta Dinam celebrations Kulapully Music Festival is also celebrated and eminent classical Musicians participate in the festival.
