Mandya is a District Head Quarter named after Mandavya Muni(A saint)believed to be stayed here. This District is very rich in Agricultural lands and produces veriety of very fine Rice, Sugar cane etc. Irrigation is through Krishnaraja Sagara Dam built by Renowned Engineer Shri. M. Vishveshwarayya over River Cauvery. This dam converted life of the then Burdened "Kaage(Crow)Mandya" into "Madhura (Sweet) Mandya" Almost Every house has a photo of Vishveshwarayya who turned out to be almost a God for the people of Mandya. Mandya is known very well for its Politics. It has given many seasoned politicians to the Karnataka/Indian politics including the famed Chief minister of Karnataka Shri. S.M. Krishna. It has got a Medical college, An engineering college, An agricultural college, B.Ed college, as a mainstream colleges. Though this district used to be last from the bottom in karnataka in education and results at School level, now a days it is doing well in education in almost all fields.World famous Brindavan Gardens downstream of Krishnaraja Sagara Dam, Sriranga pattana, Tippusultan's kingdom, Ranganatittu Bird Sanctuary are in this District.

Dear users,
It is observed that, most of the people are using this great site for personal / fun purpose (Ex: Mr.... & Ms..... Met here, Conducted party here etc.)which is really bad for educated people. I hope this trend will get discouraged at least after reading this message.
This site is aimed at giving more details to the visitor details about the place, culture, speciality of the area etc. So It is better to give more details about the place instead of personal particulars(which may be of very less use perticularly to the fother state people in INDIA and those from foreign countries)
