When the hotel was first built, lights shining into the water attracted large clouds of plankton which in turn attracted Manta Rays to feed in the area. every night you could stand on the cliffs over looking the water and watch 10 to 15 foot rays swimming around, turning somersaults as the feed. Many local dive shops featured night dives to swim with the rays.
