The Haleluya Christian Protestant Church (Jakarta)

Indonesia / Jawa Barat / Depok / Jakarta / Jl. TMII, Cipayung-Jakarta Timur

The Haleluya Christian Protestant Church is located between the Santa Catharina Catholic Church and the Hindu Dharma temple, opposite the Pavilion of the Special Capital District of Jakarta. The church was built in 1973 and officially opened in 1975. The main building comprises of a manse, dressing room, sound room and the largest room for the congregation. On the right front side, uniting with the church building is a 20 m high tower on top of which is a cock symbolizing of a nats in the Bible, that before Jesus was crucified there would be a Petrus denial - one of Jesus' students - before the cock crows three times (before dawn). There is a bell in the tower.

The annex building originally meant to be a manse, functions as a library, aula, office, kitchen and a church's souvenir kiosk. Besides functioning as Sunday school classes for youngsters, the aula and library are also used for meetings.
The architecture of the church is a blend of Western style of the 1930s. The outer wall is made of white ceramics. Above the altar facing toward the congregation there is a painting of the Holy Last Supper. The windows are made of glass painted with tulip flowers and crosses. The ceiling is made of wood in order to give an impression of coolness and comfort.

Like most churches outside TMII, the Haleluya Church not only serves religious activities but is also used for wedding ceremonies. Other religious activities carried out in this church are Easter Celebration, Christmas and retreat. On Sundays the church is used by GPIB congregation and on Saturdays by the Adventist congregation.
