  • Of all the stories I heard about Kashipur Maharaja the story of Bhadu impressed me the most. I had heard about how Panchakot Maharaja abandoned his palace near Panchet Pahar and had a new headquarters in Kashipur. But the festival of Bhadu obeserved by young girls during the Bengali month of Bhadra has impressed me even more. It was a very important thing for my sisters when I was growing up in Senera. Apparently Bhadu died young and the subjects of the Maharaja felt so bad that they started this festival in memory of this beautiful and good natured princess. When I was a little boy I used to enjoy the Bhadu festival very much.
