Grenville Park is the site of Kingston's first building co-op and was founded in 1946. Houses are held freehold by the members of the co-op and 12 1/2 acres of parkland are held in common. There are 56 member households and each owns 1 share which is transferred to the new owner when a house is purchased upon approval of the Board of Directors. Social events are held during the year for all members to participate in. All households share the cost of maintaining the common lands by way of an annual levy. Country in the city!
