Trees (1986) is a work of art by Terry Allen for the Stuart Collection. It is comprised of three tree sculptures, a "singing" tree, a "talking" tree, and a "silent" tree. The talking tree has built in speakers that play various speech-oriented programming that can be heard by passersby.
Bale Allen delivers his poem about scabs, the poet Philip Levine recites, plus there are Navajo chants, translations of Aztec poems, duck calls, and many other sound works. Trees is a continuous project and Allen and others are at work on future contributions.
