The transliteration of this apparent village name is: Agia Triada Since the roots of many English words are Greek in origin, we might hazard to guess that Triada translates as three. Since this is the Aegean Sea, perhaps then the village has adopted the name of the sea on which it lies. Just a guess. Anyone? Oh - and while where at it, where precisely is that (once narrow) pass at which the Battle of Thermopylae took place? Where also is the famous wall? Anyone.

Of all historic places, and especially since the release of the film, "The 300," should not this place be marked here?

"The greater past age claims our forbearance, as it gives wisdom far greater than our own. ... Things are as they are now, their end shall follow the Fate's decree, which none can bend. Be healer of this haunting fear which now like and enemy creeps so near. And now again when hope has seen these souls, bright with promise, slinks away, tell us that HOPE may lift the load that galls our souls by night and day. Sick with the evil which has been, the evil which our hearts forebode, cry sorrow, sorrow, yet let GOOD PREVAIL. The sole way where wisdom lies, man must suffer to be wise. For the powers that rule from thrones above in stange ways commend their love. May the best prove truest; justice with her shining eyes lights the way."

An adaptation from Aeschylus' Oerestiaen Trilogy
