Originally built as an indoor mall in 1980, Santa Monica Place was gutted from 2008 to 2010, keeping the steel structure and parking garages, and reopened in 2010 as an outdoor three-level shopping center, anchored by Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's. Bloomingdale's closed in 2021.
