  • I came here with my friends in Aug,2003. I just ran few steps to catch my bus then I felt pain in my chest and I hardly could breath.
  • Visited by Tariqahmed Pinjar on July 4, 1993 (+91 9225502789 Pune) I individually planned this adventurous trip to Khardung La on a 1990 model LML Vespa T5 scooter starting from Vasco in Goa on June 27, 1993 and reaching it on July 7, 1993. It is 39 kms from Leh which is at appx 11,000 ft MSL and imagine riding a road elevation of over 7,000 ft over a distance of 39 kms to reach Khardung La at 18,380 ft MSL! At that time, half the distance of this road was tarred. I had taken with me a mechanic friend Veeresh. The route Vasco-Hubli (Home town)-Solapur-Aurangabad-Dhule-Indore-Agra-Delhi-Chandigarh-Pavranu-Shimla-Mandi-Bilaspur-Manali-Keylong-Patsio-Ong-Leh-Khardung La-Leh-Kargil-Jozi La -Sonamarg-Srinagar-Anantnag-Ramban-Jawaharlal Nehru tunnel about 2.5 km long-Banihal-Sopore-Patnitop-Udhampur-Jammu-Pathankot-Pathan-Jalandhar-Ludhiana-Ambala-Delhi-Agra-Gwalior-Jhansi-Sagar(MP)-Lakhanandon-Nagpur-Adilabad-Nizamabad-Hyderabad-Mehboobnagar-Raichur-Hubli. It was in all a 19 days trip covering about 7000 kms through 11 states and 2 union territories, consuming about 230 ltrs of petrol. The costs of the trip was sponsored by various organisations like Dunlop, Escorts (Goetze), Gabriel, Vega, Petrosil (Penzzoil), prominet industrialists & individuals of Hubli, friends and colleagues of KWS. We have reached there 17/8/2003 at 6.15 PM on Khardungla Top. We have all certificates who's prove this journey by Army Bass camps and units. They have signed in paper. Me with my brother Deepender Dabas stayed on top of the world ( Rd ) for a night & the experience has been awesome as when we got up in the morning half of our cycles were snow clad. The urge is there again & so v wil visit again... All the best to all those reaching or aspiring to reach. In fact for us the impact had been so gr8 that i went on to become a soldier from a software engineer & my bro became a soldier w/o uniform with DRDO.   • It's a graet place tobe visited. Myself, Nitin, Pravin, Avi and Ingale were here in first week of september. We request you to check receding line of Ice and glaciares in himalayas. Please feel responsible and try to reduce polution.
