Ditmas Park West is a sub-neighborhood of Flatbush in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Located on land that remained rural until the early 20th century, it is a suburban housing development consisting of large, free-standing Victorian homes built in the 1900s.

The Ditmas Park Association, founded in 1908, hosts social events, publishes a newsletter and a home improvement directory, and works on numerous civic issues, often jointly with its sister neighborhoods and the Flatbush Development Corporation.

The Flatbush Development Corporation hosts an annual Victorian Flatbush House Tour. It is a great way to see the interior of some of the fabulous homes in the Ditmas Park Community. Residents of Ditmas Park West are seeking to have their neighborhood designated a historic district, as other Victorian Flatbush neighborhoods have been, to preserve it's unique early 20th century character.

All of these areas are collectively known as Victorian Flatbush, as they consist primarily of Victorian wood-frame single-family and two-family houses. Recently an artists' group has developed in the Ditmas Park West area known as the Flatbush Artists' Studio Tour (FAST).
  • Adam, thanks for the info - I edited the entry as best I could. What do you think of the borders? I moved it down to Cortelyou Road....not sure if that's right, you'll have to forgive me I'm not extremely familiar with this section of Brooklyn.
