Hopewell in origin, the mounds are located upon a limestone plateau that is nearly isolated from the adjoining land surface by steep slopes and precipitous cliffs that descend to the present and former channels of Massies Creek.

  • My visit here was a bit disappointing. The site is obviously very big and we took the circular trail around what I presume was the top of the enclosure. But there wasn't much to see. The area is wooded, and even in early April you couldn't see much of the structure. There's another trail that circles around the outside of the Pollock Works. It may offer a more interesting view.
