This church goes back to the evangelical years of the US missionaries who went to Northern Philippines. The late Dr. Silvestre Ranga Morales was clearly the area's primary evangelist and was church pastor until he passed away in 1955. The Church suffered a leadership gap after his death. There were several visiting pastors that included Elpidio Santos, Daniel Rasay, etc. However, once the old church leaders passed away, the Church underwent a major turmoil when the team of Abdorino Rivera came into play. The present membership and leadership divested themselves from the ties to the United Church of Christ group creating legal battles as to whose jurisdiction the church belongs to. Ethel Nona Morales Guirao - Tolentino, granddaughter of Dr. Morales recalls her childhood years inside the church with irony. She remembers people throwing rocks at the roof of the church during church services. She recalls one of her third grade classmate, Rizal, telling her that her gods were cats and dogs because of the lack of statues inside the church. Now that Nona is fully matured, she understands that those were the words of a young boy, lacking knowledge of the real world at that time. Rizal of course was a devout catholic and had a sister who became a nun. The present church has members now who were formerly members of other churches in the locality.
