North Port is a city in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 22,797 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 35,272. North Port is a rapidly growing municipality containing very large-scale residential subdivision along with an extensive network of streets. The municipality has annexed nearby locales in the area.

  • The population now exceeds that of the City of Sarasota, Fl. It has taken the seat on the Tourism Council from Sarasota. This has not set well with the City. Toledo Blade Road, The major North/South link between US Rt I-75 and US Rt 41 has just been upgraded to four lanes. Traffic signals have been added. This now makes access to Town Center Mall,a Major Regional Shopping Center, the Major Baseball League Tampa Bay Devil Rays (check)Spring Training Stadium, the Charlotte County Sports Center in Mudock, and the Charlotte County Fairgrounds in Chalotte County. North Port is one of the largest citys in Florida, areawise.
