park, invisible

Formerly known as Jannali Reserve until 2005. Now named after prominent aboriginal identity Burnum Burnum who sailed to Britain in 1988 and claimed it as aboriginal land for ironic satire of Australia's bicentenary. Burnum Burnum Reserve lived up to its name in 1994 when a bushfire crossed the river and set up the whole bushland reserve in less than 5 minutes due to uncleared bushwaste pushed into rock crevices along all 5km of the park. These fires burnt about 80 houses in the Como/Bonnet Bay/Jannali area, including the primary school.
