Added to Butler’s campus life in 1897, Pi Beta Phi moved from a rented home near the Butler campus to its current home on Hampton Drive in 1927. Annual philanthropic events hosted by Pi Phi are held each semester to raise money for the Pi Phi Foundation, which provides support to sisters in need as well as leadership development, and First Book, an international nonprofit to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new book. Indiana Gamma members also participate in Champions are Readers (CAR) and visit local elementary schools to read to children to support their mission of literacy in the city of Indianapolis.
