  • I love my village......
  • Mehmood Shaheed is a village there in the famous desert of 'THAL' in southern Punjab (Pakistan). The village is located at the border of district Khushab and Bhakkar. Having a population around 10, 000 village presents a true picture of negligence of governments and political representatives. Village has only one primary school for girls located in the center of a graveyard and the location of school is the last thing that was needed for the girls of village to not go in educational institute... Village has also a boys secondary school, which is functional but has proved of no benefit as boys coming out of secondary level has no nearby high school. The poverty is at that peak level, which one could just imagine. Most of the young ones are scarifying their youth in spinning and textile mills of Faisalabad, the ones who can't leave their homes, have the Bhatta's (bricks factories) at door-steps.... Village has a tradition to cast vote in kind of tribal division and that has helped the selfish and self-centered so called political leaders of district to ignore it completely. Village name has association with a legend "Mehmood", a sufi and fighter of his times.... But the worst thing is today due to poverty and carelessness from all who are responsible... village is becoming hub of narcotics and Interest/Usury/riba/sood. If you will get a chance to live there for free days, the things that will come into your mind can be... here is no police or law, here is no doctor or health service, here is no facility, here u ll find almost nothing that can be considered as the facility of modern era... And ironically I am not talking about village of Balochistan or interior sindh.... It is in Punjab... Parha Likha Punjab... Showbaz sharif ka punjab.
