Built in 1856, the hotel was badly damaged in WWII. Rebuilt after the war as a military academy, it was converted back to a hotel in 1962. The hotel was completely restored and reopened in 2018 with offices on the top two floors and a luxury hotel on the lower floors, managed by Raffles Hotels.
